The bridge was not introduced into the dog training world by sea mammal trainers in the 1990s. If we go back in history, it was Keller and Marian Brelands who introduced a clicker signal just after the Second World War. This former student of Professor Skinner worked with bridge signals under his supervision. They were so convinced about the power of these bridge signals that they introduced them into the professional animal training world.
A bridge signal clearly tells the animal that reinforcement is on its way. One of the golden rules in animal training is ‘clear communication!’ Nowadays, we read a lot about marker training. Trainers talk about an audible marker, a signal like a clicker, whistle, or word. A marker or bridge signal is not new in the dog training world. However, it seems to be relatively new in the detection dog community. Now you can get this original clicker!
Initially, this loud clicker was developed for the air landing of the Allies of World War II at D-Day on June 6, 1944, and was manufactured under the highest secrecy by J Hudson & Co. in Birmingham. Directly after the war, Keller and Marian Breland introduced these clickers to animal training for the first time. These former students of Professor Skinner used this clicker as a bridge signal, as described by Skinner. Now ACT! brings this original clicker back into modern animal training. A real collector’s item, a special gift for your training friends! This is the World’s best clicker from the original makers. J. Hudson & Co (UK). Made from solid brass, complete with a guarantee that this is the reproduction cricket. Made by the same company, in the same building, on the same machines, and using the same dies that made the original crickets supplied rot the troops of US 101e Airborne Division to jump into Normandy on D-Day 6th June 1944.
