Our mission

Introduction

When I met Bob and Marian Bailey in 1998, our discussions extended beyond animal training and coaching people; we delved into the critical importance of collecting data. The secrets to successful animal training lie hidden in this data. Together, we developed a simple yet effective data collection system that enabled us to analyze our daily training. Our goal was to enhance the training process, making it faster, more effective, and efficient, with clear criteria and smart goals.

From the data collected during training with radio directional camera dogs, laser-guided explosive detection dogs, and general detection dogs, we built protocols that seamlessly integrated into operational procedures. For over 25 years, I have used these protocols in special operations, training many operators worldwide to implement them. It is incredibly rewarding to know that hundreds of dogs globally are still trained using the pioneering work we established back then. Today, the use of protocols and data collection is becoming standard in police, military, and customs operations. I am pleased to see that more sport trainers, especially in detection, are recognizing the benefits.

Trainers are beginning to understand how collecting data from detection dog training can help us envision and create more effective training methods for the future. The combination of advanced technology and human insight highlights the potential for innovation and improvement in training practices. This realization is why I started 'Simon Prins ACT!'—a platform to introduce new, innovative training products and build an ecosystem of enthusiastic and proactive dog trainers and scientists worldwide. Our goal is to learn more and understand our detection dogs better because there is still so much we don't know.

Stepping away from anecdotal evidence and embracing reliable, objective data is not only helpful but necessary to make our world safer. In an era filled with electronic scanners and other security tools, K9 detection remains the most powerful tool for protecting humans and endangered wildlife. It is our duty as trainers to equip our K9 partners with the best training methods possible.

Mission Statement

Empower humans and dogs alike through our innovative feedforward coaching methods.

  • Bridging the gap between the K9 training world and scientists, creating a common language, and spreading cutting-edge training technology.
  • Inspiring collaboration and challenging old paradigms.
  • Equipping the K9 world with revolutionary training tools, ensuring our work is efficient, effective, and, above all, safe.

Commitment to Excellence

As I promised to Marian and Bob Bailey, my goal is to share the power of operant conditioning with the training world and create a much-needed shift in the minds of those responsible for shaping, conditioning, and leading. Let's work together to unlock the full potential of our K9 partners and make our world safer.
